WINTON TERRY BIOGRAPHY
Winton Terry has been practicing acupuncture since 1995. During his first two years of practice, while at the Melbourne Sports Clinic in South Yarra, he learnt of his love for the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and has specialised in this area of Traditional Chinese Medicine ever since. In the year 2000, as a measure of developing and expanding his business, he contacted the Royal Womens’ Hospital where he was provided the opportunity to present an in-service lecture discussing the role of “Acupuncture in Pregnancy”. This initial contact has led to requests for further lecturing to not only midwifery groups in most of the major birthing centres in the Melbourne metropolitan area, but also to the Australian Lactation Consultants Association, and to a collective of Obstetricians at North Park Private Hospital. Between the years 2003 to 2008, Winton had the opportunity to work from the offices of Dr. Peter Jurcevic from the Royal Womens’ Hospital, which offered him first-hand insight into the expertise of modern medicine in the field of obstetrics. This exposure, in conjunction with that of family birthing midwives, doulas and spiritual midwives, lactation consultants and reproductive specialists, has allowed Winton to understand that there is not just one way to achieve a result – the key is to “find what works for the individual” and to integrate all requirements in a seamless way so the progress forward can be more fluid.
Winton’s work covers all areas of health, but the majority of his work stems from the areas of fertility, right through all aspects of ante-natal health to birthing, and post natal care.
Winton has lectured at Victoria University of Technology in the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology for the Bachelor of Science Degree (Traditional Chinese Medicine), and acted as Clinical Supervisor. In 2009 he was made Unit Coordinator for Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
He has also held seminars in Australia and New Zealand on the topic of TCM in Pregnancy, and has completed the 5th Dimensional Spiritual Healer teacher training course with the World Wide Spiritual Healing Community Melbourne in order to tackle the emotional and spiritual aspects affecting an individual’s health, particularly in the areas of birthing. |
